Environmental Field Service Technician

Job Summary
If you are a mechanically minded and experienced environmental professional, we’re looking for you! GEO is on the hunt for an Environmental Field Service Technician to join our growing team of operations personnel. The ideal candidate for this role will provide onsite support for our projects, investigate, diagnose, and remedy equipment issues, conduct periodic maintenance, gather and submit water and air samples, and be available to travel throughout the United States and abroad as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for a curious self-starter to develop their career in the environmental remediation industry and make the world a greener place.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide field support for GEO remediation site locations

  • Work closely with Project Managers to maintain daily site performance 

  • Coordinate with other technicians to manage day-to-day site operations including general maintenance and repairs

  • Investigate, diagnose, and troubleshoot system issues and challenges

  • Develop preventative measures to remedy issues and challenges

  • Inspect and maintain remediation equipment

  • Conduct periodic sampling according to predetermined schedule

  • Perform/coordinate testing work including preparing samples, recording test results, and recording numerical and visual observations.

  • Operation of light and heavy equipment and tools.

  • Maintain records in project logs and electronic databases.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Extensive applied knowledge of environmental engineering science.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Extensive industrial field service experience.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

  • 40hr HAZWOPER certification and current 8hr HAZWOPER preferred.

Education and Experience

  • Two years of related experience required.

  • Associate’s degree in Environmental Science or related field preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to traverse various types of terrain to collect air and groundwater samples.
